About Us

Jomvu is one of the six constituencies of Mombasa County which is part of the former Coast province, other constituencies being Changamwe, Mvita, Likoni, Kisauni, and Nyali.
Jomvu constituency was curved out of Changamwe constituency by the IEBC through the boundaries delimitation process. It has a population of 163,566 according to the 2019 National population census and covers an area of approximately 29.0 Square kilometers.
Jomvu constituency is currently represented by Hon. Badi Twalib Bady.
Jomvu constituency derives its name from the Wajomvu community who are found in Mombasa West and are a sub-tribe of Swahili Community. The Wajomvu community are settled along the coastline and are popularly known as Wajomvu wa Jomvu Kuu, Wajomvu wa Kwashee, and Wajomvu wa Maunguja.
The bulk of employment opportunities in Jomvu constituency economy, about 60%, are from the formal sector. The major employers are manufacturing, hotel industry, shipping/transport and SMEs and various public and private institutions. The indigenous community traditionally engaged in fishing of prawns and pottery done in Jomvu Kuu ward.
